OTVARC's Mickley/Berg Memorial Scholarship honors the legacy of two Hams who made major contributions to the Oregon Tualatin Valley Amateur Radio Club, to SEA-PAC, and to amateur radio in general. Chuck Mickley served as president of OTVARC for many years. Al Berg W7SIC (SK) was a founder of SEA-PAC. Al's vision and drive made SEA-PAC what it is today.
The Mickley/Berg Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to an Amateur Radio Licensee who is, or will be, enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program. Academic excellence, community service and participation in amateur radio activities are factors used in selecting the recipient. Residents of NW Oregon, and students majoring in the physical sciences, mathematics, engineering, computer science or education will be given priority. However, all students with an active amateur radio license are encouraged to apply.
Scholarship details and the application form can be found on OTVARC's Mickley/Berg Scholarship webpage. Applications must be submitted by March 31st.
The Mickley/Berg Memorial Scholarship recipient is announced at the SEA-PAC banquet each year.
